Pray Scriptures for Rest and Sleep - Part 2

If you struggle with resting or sleeping at night because of anxiety, stress, or insomnia, know that God is working for you 24/7. Even when you are sleeping, God is going to battle for us. Be at rest knowing God has you taken care of. We pray these scriptures will give you the rest and sleep you need!

God Gives Rest

Deuteronomy 25:19 (AMP)

Therefore when the Lord your God has given you rest from all your surrounding enemies, in the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance to possess, you shall wipe out the memory of Amalek from under heaven; you must not forget.

Deuteronomy 33:25 (AMP)

“Your strongholds will be iron and bronze, And as your days are, so will your strength, your rest and security be.”

Joshua 1:13 (AMP)

“Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, ‘The Lord your God is giving you rest (peace) and will give you this land [east of the Jordan].’

Isaiah 32:18 (AMP)

Then my people will live in a peaceful surrounding, and in secure dwellings and in undisturbed resting places.

Isaiah 63:14 (AMP)

Like the cattle that go down into the valley [to find better pasture and rest], the Spirit of the Lord gave them rest. So You led Your people [O Lord] to make for Yourself a beautiful and glorious name [preparing the way for the acknowledgment of Your name by all nations].

Ezekiel 34:11-16 (AMP)

For thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I Myself will search for My flock and seek them out. As a shepherd cares for his sheep on the day that he is among his scattered flock, so I will care for My sheep; and I will rescue them from all the places to which they were scattered on a cloudy and gloomy day. I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries and bring them to their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the streams, and in all the inhabited places of the land. I will feed them in a good pasture, and their grazing ground will be on the mountain heights of Israel. There they will lie down on good grazing ground and feed in rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I will feed My flock and I will let them lie down [to rest],” says the Lord God. “I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bandage the crippled, and strengthen the weak and the sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong [who have become hard-hearted and perverse]. I will feed them with judgment and punishment."

Instructions on Resting

Hebrews 4:1 (AMP)

Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still remains and is freely offered today, let us fear, in case any one of you may seem to come short of reaching it or think he has come too late.

Hebrews 4:3 (AMP)

For we who believe [that is, we who personally trust and confidently rely on God] enter that rest [so we have His inner peace now because we are confident in our salvation, and assured of His power], just as He has said, “As I swore [an oath] in My wrath, They shall not enter My rest,” [this He said] although His works were completed from the foundation of the world [waiting for all who would believe].

Hebrews 4:6-11 (AMP)

Therefore, since the promise remains for some to enter His rest, and those who formerly had the good news preached to them failed to [grasp it and did not] enter because of [their unbelief evidenced by] disobedience, He again sets a definite day, [a new] “Today,” [providing another opportunity to enter that rest by] saying through David after so long a time, just as has been said before [in the words already quoted], “Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” [This mention of a rest was not a reference to their entering into Canaan.] For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak about another day [of opportunity] after that. So there remains a [full and complete] Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from [the weariness and pain of] his [human] labors, just as God rested from [those labors uniquely] His own.  Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience [as those who died in the wilderness].

Job 11:14-18 (AMP)

If sin is in your hand, put it far away [from you], and do not let wrongdoing dwell in your tents; Then, indeed, you could lift up your face [to Him] without moral defect, and you would be firmly established and secure and not fear. “For you would forget your trouble; you would remember it as waters that have passed by. “And your life would be brighter than the noonday; darkness [then] would be like the morning. “Then you would trust [with confidence], because there is hope; you would look around you and rest securely.

Praise and Declarations to God for Rest

1 Kings 5:4 (AMP)

But now that the Lord my God has given me rest [from war] on every side, there is neither adversary nor misfortune [confronting me].

1 Kings 8:56 (AMP)

“Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, in accordance with everything that He promised. Not one word has failed of all His good promise, which He spoke through Moses His servant."

Psalm 116:7 (AMP)

Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
