God put it on my heart to make a dream dictionary, but warned me that I would have to make sure to encourage people to understand that the dictionary is not the Holy Spirit. There is a falsehood that the enemy has created about dream interpretation and that is that you can unravel the mystery of all dreams simply by having a dream dictionary.
There is a lot that goes into interpreting a dream. The very first, numero uno, le chose premiere, the number one thing you need to interpret a dream is the Holy Spirit. It is imperative that you have a working relationship with the Holy Spirit and that you are familiar with his voice. If you can hear Holy Spirit clearly and you have learned how to tune out your soul and the enemy, then you can unravel any dream.
Jesus said in John 14:26, "But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." The part of that verse that everyone clings to is that the Holy Spirit will teach you all things. That's true, but what we fail to realize is that the Holy Spirit will teach you in many ways. This is why there is a teaching aspect of the five-fold ministry. Some of those ways He teaches may be in dreams, through revelation of the word, or even through people that He has spoken to who is yielded and is willing to be used by Holy Spirit; that type of person can be used by the Holy Spirit as a tool that allows the Holy Spirit to reach more people and bear witness on a greater level to the authenticity of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
There is a second part of the verse that is overlooked and even by now you may have forgotten all about it yourself, "...will remind you of everything I have said to you." In order for the Holy Spirit to bring something to your memory, he had to reveal it to you in the first place. Sometimes the answer you are looking for is already hidden inside of you, even if it hasn't been revealed to you personally by telling you something, then you can still find it in the word of God. Think about this, how often have you been asking God about something and he reminds you of a bible verse? That is his way of revealing to you things that Jesus has said to you. Maybe you're thinking, "Jesus didn't say that. It's a bible verse." Well, Jesus is the word of God, and the words written in the bible are the word of God, therefore Jesus said it to you.
The word that we translate as bring to remembrance or will remind is hupomimnesko in Greek. This is a derivative of two words, hupo-to cause, and mimnesko- to remember. Strong's exhaustive concordance defines it as to remind quietly, i.e. Suggest to the (in one's own, in a middle voice that is to say something familiar to you) memory -- put in mind, remember, bring to (put in) remembrance. It reminds me of the small still voice that Elijah heard in the wilderness. When you become in tune with the Holy spirit his voice becomes your voice.
I have noticed that the enemy tries to do this as well. He will speak in a voice that sounds like yours and you will be convinced that it is your own thought. That's why it is so important why we need to focus on learning to Hear God's voice. This is why Paul say focus on what is good, and pure. "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." Philippians 4:8.
When we focus on anything, those things manifest in our lives. "You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." Matthew 12:34. "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." -Proverbs 4:23.
The enemy tries to get you to focus on things that are not pure, or praiseworthy and that is what causes us to eventually give in to sin. When we refuse to submit to either the word of God or to the enemy's lies then we will see the fruit of that manifest in our lives. One of the most powerful tools God ever gave us, which I am a little embarrassed to say I didn't get this until Holy Spirit spoke it to me, when you are tempted it is not your flesh that you are fighting, it is the spiritual realm. " For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."- Ephesians 6:12.
Your dream dictionary or symbol guide will be as useful to you as your ability to hear the Holy spirit allows. The best way to be able to hear him is to spend time listening to him. Yes, this may include sitting in a quiet place and just hearing, but it also includes reading the word of God. The more you read the word of God the more you will be able to hear and understand what God is saying to you, or to anyone else, be it through dreams, visions, hearing his voice, or whatever means he chooses to communicate himself through. Doing this will increase your faith as well.
Paul gives us a great revelation, " We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;" -Romans 12:6. At face value, this doesn't seem like it is pertaining to what I am saying, but let me show you why it is. In Greek, the verse actually says, " We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with the measure your faith." The Greek word for measure used here is analogia. This word is only used one time in the new testament. This word is a compound of the word Ana, meaning advance upward or completing a process; and logos which is a word or thought that is expressing the thoughts of the Father through the Spirit. It is where we get the word analogy in English. Essentially, the measure of faith is defined as increasing your understanding of the word of God by gaining more revelation and insight into the word of God. This means that faith is not only experienced by simply believing, doing, or see supernatural things, faith is also increased by revelation of the word of God.
When Paul says that we should each operate according to the measure of grace given us, what he is demonstrating to us is that the more we read the word of God, the more we understand the word of God, and the greater the revelation we have, then the greater we will be able to operate in certain gifts of the Holy Spirit. This verse is not saying that you can't operate because you aren't "anointed" to do so, but it saying that the greater power, the greater authority, the greater ability to hear God's voice comes from the greater revelation we obtain by being one with God's Spirit.
When do this we are actually bringing Heaven to Earth the way that we were taught to pray in the Lord's prayer by Jesus. Surely you remember the verse, "on earth as it is in Heaven." The same scripture in Romans 12:6 that teaches us that faith is increased by revelation of the word, also teaches us that this same revelation brings Heaven to Earth. The word for according to in Greek is Katah. This word can mean in, according to, or against. However, these translations present a limited understanding of the word itself. The word Katah itself is a word used to describe bringing something down from a higher plane into a lower plane. This literally means that we are being given revelation from Heaven so as to bring heavenly thinking and logic into our lives in order to manifest it here on Earth in the same manner that we asked God to do when we uttered the Lord's prayer from our lips.
Each of the prophets in the Bible, each of the disciples had a great revelation of Jesus. Their revelation was so great that it still teaches believers even today. When God commissioned prophets such as Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Moses, and Isaiah he gave them his words to speak. He cleaned their mouths up and he gave them a prophetic revelation so profound he would even go so far as to say, "They will know that a prophet has been among them," Ezekiel 2:5.
In short, if you really want to see your dream symbol guide or dream dictionary come to life and be a useful tool for interpreting, then you have to get a greater revelation from God. That greater revelation starts with digging into the word of God, spending time in prayer listening to the voice of God, and focusing on the things that God instructs us to focus on. If you practice these things every day, then you will be able to heal the sick in a greater capacity; interpret dreams on a greater manner, cast out devils, speak in tongues or any manner of wonderful things that God has planned for us.
